SAR Color Guard at the Memorial Day Service in Spring Hill on 5/30/07
Presentation of flag certificates by Jack Townsend on Memorial Day (May 30th).
Both of these folks are very punctual and particular about putting up their flags eachmorning and taking them down at sunset.
Murial Neel (a widow) says she flies her flag in honor of her grandson who is on active duty with the Marines.
Merrill Barden is a World War II Veteran, a very patriotic man, he too puts his flag up and takes it down every day.
His eyesight is so bad that he could not read his certificate even though he had on his glasses.(Later, I saw him examine it with a magnifying glass). Both of these folks were very appreciative, (almost to tears) and impressed that the SAR took notice of their patriotism.
