Our next award is presented to a lady with many years of dedicated service to the local area, the state of Florida and Citrus County. This recipient is: Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for the SAVE THE MANATEE ORG. Is referred as "The Manatee Lady" due to her decades work for manatee protection Is Former member of the Crystal River, City Council. Is Former member of the Florida House of Representatives. Was one of the first manatee protection pioneers in Crystal River and through her work, manatees are much safer throughout the state waters. She has been appointed a member of the: Florida Manatee Technical Advisory Council, The Manatee Forum, Numerous environmental committees Currently, she is: Active in acquire the Three Sisters Springs parcel And on the Board of the National Greyhound Foundation, President of the Florida League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, She has received awards from: One Thousand Friends of Florida, The Sierra Club, Florida Consumer Action Network, The League of Conservation Voters, The Florida Audubon Society, The Nature Conservancy, and Save the Manatee Club. She was married a career Navy Chief Petty Officer for over 47 years who as since passed away and she and her husband raised three children.
