INVOCATION:
Heavenly Father
We come to you today with Gratitude and Thanksgiving for the several opportunities our SAR Chapter and its families have had to show appreciation for our Veterans and to Celebrate Veterans Week with them. We thank you for the lives of all of our Veterans who have served our country. They have done so much to preserve, protect and defend the very freedoms our Sons of the American Revolution Cherish and that our great country was founded upon. We ask you to be with all those serving today - keep them safe and those that are away from our homeland - bring home safely.
We are Thankful for this very day and ask you to bless this gathering and keep your steady hand on our efforts to carry out our various projects in our communities.
and……….. As we go about our daily tasks teach us to do them with grateful hearts.
God Bless America -- Amen

Guest Speaker William Piper of Lake Sumter SAR Chapter was introduced as our Guest Speaker. William spoke on the life and times of General Morgan of the Revolutionary war. He traced Morgan's historical progress to victory at the Battle of Cowpens, South Carolina in 1781. Compatriot Piper's presentation was well received and President Nelson presented him with a Withlacoochee certificate of appreciation.

Mildred Roseberry is an American Cancer Society volunteer and is the Citrus County Coordinator for "Look Good . . . Feel Better" programs and hosts monthly sessions at local oncologists' offices. These sessions are open to any woman undergoing treatment, or six months post treatment. A free makeup kit is presented to each woman who attends. The ACS assure confidentiality. No product promotion, sales or orders are involved. Fifty thousand kits are provided annually by PCPC. Licensed cosmetologists donate their time to demonstrate the proper application of makeup and advise women about skin and nail care. They are also knowledgeable about wigs and provide tips on the use of scarves and hats. All attending say that it is an afternoon well spent and it is a comfort to be among others who understand what they are experiencing, a refreshing break from the tests and treatments they have endured.
Mildred, an active great grandmother, is a 33 year survivor of breast cancer and has been associated with ACS since moving to Citrus County in 1994. She has served on the ACS Board, volunteered at the local ACS office and visited breast cancer patients as a "Reach to Recovery" volunteer.
Prior to coming to Citrus County, she and her husband, Miney, were residents of Alexandria, VA. It was there that 10 yrs. after her surgery, she opened Lady Mastectomy Boutique and fitted over 500 women with breast prostheses. She says her work with cancer patients has been very rewarding and feels that she has gained more from the experience than she has given.
