MINUTES of May 10, 2008 Meeting
The Withlacoochee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution met for their regular monthly luncheon meeting at the Inverness
Country Club on May 10 2008. .
President Dan Hans at 9:30 am swore in the newly elected officers for the 2008-2009 term President Richard Sumner, 2nd vice president Harold Marvin secretary Harley Nelson treasurer Jack Townsend. William Teater 1st vice president will be sworn in when he returns from medical leave. Harold Marvin was appointed chaplain John Camillo as registar and John Pardee as genealogist.
President Hans called the regular meeting to order at 11 :AM The invocation was given by chaplain Marvin and President Hans led the group in the pledge of allegiance. The SAR pledge was also read.
All guest were introduced which included the JROTC cadets and their parents and advisors.
Area vice president Gordon Greenwood and his wife Priscilla were also introduced.
The cadets who received certificates to go with their previously awarded medals were Amanda Fadden from Citrus High School Ryan Nolan from Lecanto High School A Posa from Crystal River High School Michael Ogren Central High School and David Boylan from Springstead High School cadet Jones from Hernando Central was unable to attend because of graduation at the high school
Gordon Greenwood presented the Patriot Medal to John Camillo this is normal done at the annual BOM but John was unable to attend, The Patriot Medal is the highest award given by the SAR and only three a year are awared in the region
John Camillo presented Jean Knox with the Daughters of Liberty Medal for her work for the chapter and the auxiliary
The next monthly meeting will be in September however all present were advised about the BOM on August 15 & 16.
