The meeting was called to order by 2nd Vice President Richard Sumner. (President Harley Nelson not feeling well - absent)

Pledge of Allegiance by All and SAR pledge by Richard Sumner

Color Guard - Richard Sumner reminded us the color guard would meet at 9:00 am at Clover Leaf Farms on St. Patrick's Day to March - - 17 March 2010.

Charlie Day reported on the Anniversary Celebration of "The Last Naval Battle of the Revolution" held March 6th at Port Canaveral. We had four members in the FLSSAR Color Guard and there were five Withlacoochee women present for the event. The Withlacoochee Wreath that was presented was made by Jean Nelson.

Richard Sumner reported that the JROTC Medals for the May programs were available and he would like the responsible parties to pick them up and get them to the high school ROTC leaders.
Jack Townsend made a motion that the Chapter would give a $50.00 dollar check to each medal recipient that attended our May meeting. The motion was seconded and passed.

Richard Sumner read the nominations committee report for the election of officers to be held at our April meeting. President- Bill Teater, 1st Vice President - Charlie Day, 2nd Vice President- Jimmie Barnes, Secretary- Ken Frink, Treasurer- Jack Townsend.

Richard Sumner presented John Camillo and William Teater Service to Veterans Medals.  Over the past 5 years our Veterans programs have either been near or at the top in FLSSAR Veterans Program recognition. This has been in large part due to the work of these two men.

Harley Nelson was awarded the Bronze Good Citizenship Medal for his many years work with the Friends of the Libraries, Citrus County. John Camillo presented the medal to Jean Nelson to take home to Harley who was absent today.

Fred Daniels - Chairman of the Citrus Veterans Coalition was introduced to our group, He made a short presentation on the purpose and mission of the coalition. Withlacoochee Chapter voted to become a member of the coalition. Treasurer Jack Townsend was designated to fill out the application paperwork and present the check to Mr. Daniels.

Charlie Day introduced our guest speaker - Chief Morrey Deen.  Morrey was formerly the Police Chief for Ocala, FL for seven years and a 29 year member of the Ocala police force. He is a man of many talents, awards and achievements. More recently Chief Deen was the Project Director and Flight Coordinator of the Ocala Area Honor Flight 2009 and currently working on Honor Flight 2010. Chief Deen gave a good over view of the Honor Flight program. He stressed the need to get as many of the WW II Veterans to Washington D.C. to see their memorial as possible. The daily death toll of these veterans is very high. (1000 - 1500 daily)

Chief Deen showed pictures taken on the 2009 Honor Flight including the WW II memorial.
The Withlacoochee Executive Committee had previously earmarked $300.00 in special gift funds for  the 2010 Honor Flight program. Jacktownsend made a motion that was passed, to add $50.00 from our general funds to the $300.00 and present Chief Deen with a check for $350.00.

Happy Dollars collection was $32.00. Specific donations by individuals to Honor Flight 2010 were made amounting to $33.00.

The SAR closing was given by Richard Sumner and the meeting adjourned.
