





Sons of the American Revolution - January 15, 2010 MEETING Minutes
Meeting was called to order by Vice President Charles Day
The invocation was given by Norm Freyer
Pledge of Allegiance was led by Richard Sumner and the SAR pledge by Charlie Day
Jimmie Barnes introduced the guests speaker, Mary Ann Machonkin
Opening Comments were given by Charlie Day including:
" John Pardee has assume all duties as Chapter Registrar
" Jack Townsend has assume the duties as Chairman Medals and Awards
" Bill Teater has assume Chairman of the Veteran's Home Activities
" Assistant Secretary will be Larry Sturgeon. He will assist Ken Frink in all Secretary duties.
Committee Reports were given:
TREASURER
Jack Townsend reported that the Chapter is financially healthy. He has set a goal to collect $1000 over last years expenses.
REGISTRAR/ MEMBERSHIP & NEW MEMBERS
Charlie Day reported that 3 new members have been forwarded to National and that Nelson Peters has been approved.
PUBLICITY
Jimmie Barnes reported that a picture was published in the St. Pete Times regarding the veterans home event in December.
VETERANS
No report
POSTER CONTEST
Norm Fryer reported that 3 schools had committed to the contest and posters should be in hand at the end of March. Larry Sturgean added that he spoke in front of the Hernando County School Board recognizing the involvement of one of their schools.
JROTC
Jim Echlin explained the changes in the JROTC program in that 6 cadets would be recognized, but only one cadet will be awarded $300 as apposed to six $50 awards in the past
Jack Townsend and Jimmie Barnes both commented on other chapters were looking towards our chapter for direction as they took notice on our website and involvements with the veterans.
Jean Nelson stated a need for involvement in the SAR Ladies Auxilary
Maryann Machonkin gave a fascinating presentation on various techniques on dating older photographs. She also brought many samples of her collection which were on display during the meeting.

" Richard Sumner - Supplemental Star (12 Stars Total)
" Maryann Machonkin was presented with a certificate for her presentation.
HAPPY DOLLARS collection was $46
SAR Recessional (closing) was given by Charlie Day and the meeting was adjourned.
Next scheduled General Membership Meeting will be February 12, 2011
